Objectives: Orientation on the Model Parliament

The main objective of conducting this orientation session was to train the students for the upcoming model parliament competition organized by the Young Men’s Christian Association Bengaluru. Sir started the session by talking about the importance of conducting such competitions and how helpful it will be for the students. He explained in detail the parliamentary procedures of the Presidential address in the joint sitting of the parliament, motion of thanks, question hour, passing of the bills in the different stages etc. He also briefed about the decorum and behavioral mannerisms in the parliamentary halls. The importance of wearing proper costumes was also highlighted by him. Video clipping of the recorded presidential address and motion of thanks was also showcased to the students. The session concluded with the demonstration of the parliamentary sessions by the students participating in the model parliament competition.
